This winery was started in 1996 in Paso Robles wine region of the central coast. The name is derived from Greek mythology; the name means “Goddess of the Dawn”. The EOS winery harvests its grapes either before dawn or after sunset when the grape is cool, this helps retain the varietal character. On to the wine….
This wine is Unique! We had come back from a birthday dinner and needed some RELAXATION wine. EOS hit the spot. We drank this wine all by itself! The first thing that hits you is the smell. It is a wonderful smell, sweet, earthy and unique. We had never smelled a wine like this. It was different in a good way, with black cherry, boysenberry and toasty, possibly light burnt oak aromas. EOS isn’t a really dark wine, yet still has a dark color. I know you’re saying “how does the wine taste”?
This taste was sweeter than any Cab we have ever had, but not in a bad way. There were different fruit flavors than most wines we have ever tasted. Maybe the same fruit, but done differently? You could taste plum blackberry and chocolate. We liked this wine a lot, but it was a wine very different from other cabs. EOS is good, but in a unique kind of way. Some would even say an “acquired taste”. Yes, I would buy this again or give it as a gift. This wine is fine to drink today, but will be even better with age. EOS Cab will run you around $15.00 from your favorite wine outlet. This wine would be good with aged cheese or grilled meats. Would not hurt to be cellared for a few years!
I would rate this wine (Good)
