I like to listen to everything from Slipknot to Goo-Goosh (if you like Middle eastern music she's an Iranian singer). In the past year or 2 I've been listening to metal. All kinds, thrash, black, heavy, death. Love it!

I love Slipknot, Hypocracy, decapitated, Metallica, Judas Priest, Godsmack, Slayer, Bleeding through, As I lay dying, Hatebreed, Lamb of God, Behemouth, Pantera, Rob Zombie, Sepletura, Korn, Cake, 311, Cradle of filth, Cannible Corpse, Offspring, Emiminem, Linkin park (they were awesome in concert btw), Tom Petty, Iron Maiden, Prince, Ozzy, Dio, Madonna, 80's music of all sorts, New Order, Depeche Mode, and many others. I have thousands of songs on my Ipod. I love music. I usually drink my wine while listening to metal but I'm an equal opportunity drinker :)

I go to concerts as much as I can! I am going on Friday to see Bleeding through and HIM. Should be fun! :) I am sure I will drink a good bottle of wine before we go. I think I'm craving a nice super Tuscan. I had a lovely one last night!  It was delicious!

That's the kind of music you're likely to hear if you are around me! But that and a great bottle of red wine will win my heart :)

When enjoying wine with a meal, I will listen to soft rock. I love the music of the eighties. The sounds of Rod Stewart, Aeorsmith, Phil Collins etc.

When it comes to being curled up in front of the fire place with a glass.....almost forgot.....husband too!! We like to listen to county music. Yup, I married a county boy with a soft rock back ground. The sounds of Micheal Montgomery, Rascall Flatts, Tim Mcgraw, Faith Hill, and Kelly Coffee.

Now when it come to a hard day at work and I need to unwind with a BOTTLE of wine....off to the bathtub I go. Light the candles, pop the cork and put in the cd changer.....Micheal Buble and the Eagles.........A strange mix but it works for me.

Are you eating every time a glass of wine is in your hand? I didn't think so. So why do people buy wine based solely on pairing it with the food you'll be serving? If you're like me, you've probably popped open the bottle about the same time you've put a CD in the CD player (okay, so I'm one of the few people who don't have an iPod). Each wine fits a mood, as does each musical artist. It only stands to reason that you should serve wine based on what you're listening to, not just whether you're having pork or steak.

This epiphany first hit me when Hubby got Moonspell's "Night Eternal" CD in the mail. Since they're a Portugese heavy metal band, we thought it would be interesting to listen to it while drinking one of the Portugese-style wines made by our friends at Willow Creek Winery in Amador County. We chose their Tinta Cao because of its tobacco/leathery finish (it's like Eddie Van Halen in a bottle). The match was perfect! Tinta Cao is not available to the public yet, but the vintner and his wife are our neighbors so were able to get a sneak preview. You can check out the rest of their wines at www.willowcreekwinery.net (don't get it confused with the winery by the same name in New York).

That experience set the course for me to think about pairing wines with various musical artists. Here's what I came up with based on my favorite wines and the bands listed on my Myspace Friends page. Please note: I don't do white wine, so all the wines listed are reds.

• Pandemonaeon - A band with strong ties to their Roman roots deserves an excellent wine made by a fifth-generation Italian-American family. I suggest Charles Spinetta Heritage Red. www.charlesspinettawinery.com

• Speaking of heritage, let's go with my own bloodline - a little bit Irish, a little bit Scotish (and a few other things mixed in but I haven't found any good Polish wines or musical artists yet). Anyway, let's pair Irish rockers Cruachan with Fitzpatricks' Tir na nOg and uncork the magic! www.fitzpatrickwinery.com

• So that takes care of the Irish, now here's the Scotish - Wicked Tinkers with Nua Dair 2005 Zinfandel. Their website is currently down, but you can find information on them at the Amador Vintner's site at http://amadorwine.com/new/pages/wineries.cgi?vincatid=0&vinid=36

• If you're listening to the gypsies in Fishtank Ensemble, I recommend drinking Bantam Cellars' Chanteclair Festive Summer Red. The vintner as well as the musical artists deliver a performance that is complex yet whimsical. There is a strong note of hard work and training in the performance, but it's lighthearted and fun enough to keep the party going.  www.bantamcellars.com.

• After sequestering himself in an Old Victorian manor in Texas, struggling to write new material for the new album, Unto Ashes maestro Michael Laird deserves to pop the cork on a bottle of 2006 Writer's Block Syrah from Steele Wines. www.steelewines.com

• The only wine I can recommend to pair with Italian metal band Lacuna Coil is Avio's Barbed Wire Red. www.aviowine.com

• When I listen to the experimental/classical Kronos Quartet, I think of a inky, murky, purple wine like C.G. D'Arie's Petite Syrah. Good stuff! www.cgdiarie.com

• Jill Tracy describes her music as the "elegant side of the Netherworld." If you're going to make such an extrodinary journey, I recommend taking along a bottle of the dark, full-bodied Empress Hayley Zinfandel from Karmere.  www.karmere.com

• From the Netherworld we go to the Netherlands where Dutch Goths/folk rockers Omnia pair well with a bold, spicy Black Sheep Zinfandel. www.blacksheepwinery.com

• The classical/metal merge made by Australia's Virgin Black pairs well with wine made from New Zealands's syrah grapes. I suggest Jeff Runquist's 2004 "R" Reserve Syrah. www.jeffrunquistwines.com

• The only wine I can in good consciousness recommend to pair with Finnish opera metal band Nightwish is the ever-so-decadent decadent Il Gioiello 2006 Barbera. www.ilgioiellowinery.com

• Goth/jazz diva Rosa Damacena begs to be paired with a clove cigarette and the clove-hued Shady Lady Primitivo by Windwalker. www.windwalkervineyard.com

• If you're listening to the francophone Mauvais Sort, I highly recommend having a glass Le Moulet Rouge Mouvedre in hand. Both the music and the wine will keep you warm in the frosty lands of Quebec while evoking memories of the French influence on the New World.

• For dessert, we travel far back in time to when knights and minstrels stole ladies' hearts, Daemonia Nymphe plays medieval music to be enjoyed with a chalice full of the sweet Nocturne Late Harvest Zinfandel from Cantiga Wineworks. www.cantigawine.com

Non-Wine Pairings

• On Sunday mornings, Hubby and I love to take it easy by listening to our Faun CDs while drinking our morning coffee. Our caffenated beverage du choix is Green Mountain's Butter Pecan. www.greenmountaincoffee.com

• After midnight, it's time for Amber Asylum and a little Lucid-brand Absinthe. I keep hearing that absinthe is supposedly illegal in the States, but I was able to find it at Beverages and More. The real absinthe - the kind that has actual wormwood in it - is locked in a glass case in the spirits section. You can get the refined absinthe (no wormwood, but it does have a pleasant licorice taste) on the shelf. I've had both kinds of absinthe and have found that if you do the sugar-cube and water thing, it's very tame. Bev Mo even sells the slotted spoons.
