I remember being in Hawaii when some of our friends took us out for sushi. Always wanting to be the wild and crazy guy I said “ OK, lets give it a try”. I don’t think the average person just sits down and start chowing down on some raw fish. The same thing goes with poi………. 1 finger, 2 finger or three finger poi. Again, its just not some thing you start chowing down on like ice cream. For the poi to be edible to me I had to mix it with lomi lomi salmon, Boy does that take me back to the luau on Oahu. For sushi it was an acquired taste. Today it is almost a ritual that I go through almost a spiritual or religious experience. First the sushi, then the ginger, then a little wasabi and some shoyu or soy sauce. Why am I telling you this when I am about to writing about wine. To show that not all taste buds are a like.
KD made an awesome mouth watering chicken dish. She took boneless chicken breast, she then stuffed them with cheese and wrapped them in bacon. She seasoned the chicken with garlic pepper, ONO seasoning, Italian seasoning…….OH MY GOSH was this delicious. We paired this awesome chicken with a nicely chilled bottle of Beaulieu Vineyards Chardonnay ‘04. This wine was crisp clean and bitey, a flash in the mouth, with a lot of tang as well as a taste of kiwi and lime. This wine was very acidic with little or no oak taste. And if you like that……….. this could be a wine you enjoy.
As for what we thought of this wine , we thought it was just fair. Here is the funny part………. after reading a little more about this wine. It was named in the top 100 wines of 2006 by a large wine review magazine. Does that change our review………No. We are staying true to what we believed while pairing this wine. We even tried this wine with salmon the next night and came up with the same results. Just goes to show how different all of our tastes can be. Happy experimenting. This wine will cost you 10-15 dollars.
I would rate this wine (Fair).
