Blog Entry: Review Torrediluna Pinot Grigio ‘07 Tonight we decided to try a Pinot Grigio from Italy with our chicken dinner. I must admit as I have in the past, I love all wines but tend to lean more to the red varietals. However, in the middle of summer, white wines tend to be a great choice with light summer meals. As we let this wine open up I hoped that the nose and the taste on the palate would be enjoyable. The color was of light transparent straw and the nose I felt was faint, although I could detect a slight fruit smell possible melon or peach with citrus undertones. As I sipped the wine it was light bodied and the after taste tart and crisp with a medium finish. Pinot Grigio is produced in Italy . The Italians produce great amounts of this popular wine. It is a light-bodied, high-acid, delicate white. The grape famous for producing Pinot Grigio wines was originally discovered by monks in the Alsace region of France in the 14th century. According to history, its popularity quickly spread to Italy , where it flourishes today. Depending on the producer as well as the country Pinot Grigio tastes/ aromas will vary. In France this wine is Pinot Gris and tends to be rich and fuller bodied with slightly more fruit detected. I like a wine where I enjoy the aroma and it pleases the palate. This wine was on the dryer side; with not much to speak of other than it was a cool drink on a hot day. This wine will cost you anywhere from $10-$12 a bottle..... We rate this wine (Pass) Here are our Ratings: / Pass / Fair / Ok / Good / Great / Fantastic Disclaimer: Just because we like or dislike a wine does not mean that you will have the same experience. Of course it’s always worth a try….tell us what you think?? Aloha, KD
